Screw it, I'll answer Epica vs Attack on Titan lol I guess this should mean that Design Your Universe is my favorite album? BUT concerning the shorter songs, while Tides of Time is still really special to me, I'd say I overall enjoy The Quantum Enigma and The Holographic Principle albums more. I felt a little let down by The Quantum Enigma (song) too I don't think it held up to the rest of "A New Age Dawns". Serenade of Self Destruction and The Holographic Principle (song) are great, probably DYU level, and come close but they're not quite 10/10 KoH for me. Design Your Universe (song) is phenomenal too. As far as their long songs go, Kingdom of Heaven is my personal favorite 10/10. I can't decide on a single favorite album. Tough call, glad to see this post though because I've had these thoughts floating around for a while.

How would you rank Epica's albums? I'll edit my full ranking once I have got through Requiem, The Quantum Enigma and The Holographic Principle, but at the moment, it's looking like: That said, I'm currently thoroughly enjoying Requiem for the Indifferent (which is a pleasant surprise, as when it first came out, I recall being rather, well, indifferent to it). After that, I would listen to every new album they released at least once, but they never again captivated me as much as they had with their second and third albums. When I first got into them, I really enjoyed their earlier work (in particular Consign for Oblivion and The Divine Conspiracy), but I greatly lost enthusiasm for the band when they released Design Your Universe, which (apart from Tides of Time and White Waters) I found (and continue to find) extremely noisy and overblown. I've been getting back into Epica recently, and have been listening to all their main albums in chronological order (I'm currently on Requiem for the Indifferent).
